Marilyn Minter's photorealistic paintings take modern glamour concepts and contextualize them to the banal. We see her challenge precious jewelry and clothing by soiling them with gritty dirt, drool, and sweat. It's a bit of cliche', but she does them well and with great technical proficiency. The M&M paintings, no doubt, refer to her name.
